FAQ schema

FAQ schema (FAQPage in Schema.org) is the structured-data type that marks up question-and-answer pairs so AI engines and crawlers can parse them as discrete Q&A units rather than generic prose.

FAQPage remains a valid schema.org type, and answer engines that rely on retrieved web content (ChatGPT browsing, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews) still benefit from cleanly delimited Q&A pairs. Note, however, that Google deprecated FAQ rich results for general sites in August 2023, FAQPage rich snippets in classic Google Search now appear only for well-known government and health domains. The case for FAQ schema today is parseability for AI ingestion and downstream LLM grounding, not blue-link rich results.
